NightPin is an App on iOS providing automated pinning of where you spend the night. It's an application I was missing on my travels, so I programmed it myself. The following is the mandatory information asked for by the Apple Store. And of course, feel free to download the app. It's free.

Support
NightPin is a private iPhone journal that helps you remember where you spent each night. It presents your nights on a map and timeline and provides statistics by city, country and category.
Setting up automatic night capture
For automatic night capture, allow NightPin to access your location Always:
Open iPhone Settings.
Select Privacy & Security.
Select Location Services.
Select NightPin.
Choose Always.
NightPin uses the last eligible location registered at or before 2:00 a.m. to create the night’s pin. The location can have been registered up to 18 hours earlier.
Because iOS controls when background location updates are delivered, NightPin cannot guarantee that a location will be available every night. A missing night can always be added manually.
Managing your nights
You can:
Add a missing pin manually.
Change a night’s category.
Delete an individual night from the timeline.
Explore nights on the map.
View statistics by country, city and category.
Export your complete journal as a CSV file.
Troubleshooting
If a night was not recorded:
Confirm that Location Services are enabled.
Confirm that NightPin has Always location permission.
Open NightPin occasionally so iOS can maintain its background location access.
Check that Low Power Mode or other system restrictions have not prevented background activity.
Add the missing night manually if necessary.
If city or country information is missing, connect your iPhone to the internet and reopen the Timeline or Stats page. NightPin uses Apple’s geocoding service to resolve coordinates into place names.

Privacy Policy
NightPin is designed to keep your location journal private. Your saved night history is stored locally within NightPin on your iPhone and is not transmitted to or accessible by the NightPin developer.
Information handled by NightPin
With your permission, NightPin handles the following information:
Location coordinates supplied by iOS.
The date and time associated with a location.
The category you assign to a night, such as Home, Hotel, Partner, Friends, Camping, Family or Other.
City and country names derived from coordinates.
Technical information about the freshness and accuracy of a saved location.
This information is used only to create and display your night journal, map, timeline, statistics and CSV exports.
Location access
NightPin requests Always location access so that iOS can provide location updates while the app is not open.
NightPin retains the latest eligible location sample and uses the last registered position at or before 2:00 a.m. to create a night pin. The rolling sample is replaced when a newer eligible position becomes available.
You can change or revoke location permission at any time under:
Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → NightPin
If location access is disabled, you can continue viewing existing information and adding pins manually.
Local storage
NightPin does not provide user accounts and does not operate a cloud database or developer-controlled server. The developer cannot view or retrieve your saved nights.
Your journal is stored inside NightPin’s private app storage. Night entries remain until you delete them or remove the app. Supporting local caches may remain on the device until the app is removed.
Depending on your iPhone backup settings, Apple may include app information in an iCloud or computer backup. These backups are controlled by you and Apple, not by the NightPin developer.
Apple services
NightPin uses Apple MapKit to display maps and Apple geocoding services to obtain city and country names. Location information necessary to provide these functions may be processed by Apple according to Apple’s privacy terms.
Apple Privacy Policy:
https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
NightPin contains no advertising, third-party analytics, cross-app tracking or social-media tracking technology.
CSV exports
NightPin creates a CSV file only when you select Export. The file can include dates, categories, city and country names, coordinates, timestamps and location-confidence information.
You choose where the exported file is saved or sent. Once exported, its protection and deletion are controlled by the selected destination or recipient.
Data sharing and collection
The NightPin developer does not collect, sell, rent or share your night history or location information.
NightPin does not use your information for advertising, profiling, marketing or analytics.
Retention and deletion
You can delete individual night entries inside NightPin. Removing NightPin from your iPhone deletes its locally stored information from that device.
Because the developer never receives your journal, no separate deletion request needs to be submitted to the developer.
Copies that you exported, or that were included in a device backup, must be deleted separately from their respective destination.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated if NightPin’s functionality or data-handling practices change. The latest version will be published on this page with an updated revision date.
